About Carrie

Carrie Kohan is a Therapist, Psychotherapist, Coach, International Best-Selling Author, Aboriginal Energy Facilitator, and Retreat Leader with more than three decades of experience helping people heal, grow and navigate life’s many transitions. She works with adults, teenagers and families to support emotional, mental and personal development, confidence, balance and reconnection.
 

Her Journey

Carrie began her professional path in holistic wellbeing at an early age. In 1991 she became a certified Reiki Master Practitioner and Teacher in Vancouver, BC.
In 1993 she trained extensively in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), becoming a Master Practitioner of NLP through programs associated with Tony Robbins and the founders of NLP, Richard Bandler and John Grinder.
During the 1990s Carrie became a business partner of Tony Robbins and co-owned and operated the Anthony Robbins & Associates franchises for Vancouver and Winnipeg, Canada. In this role she co-facilitated workshops, supported large personal development programs and helped deliver
Unlimited Power workshops for groups ranging from approximately 200 to 2,500 participants.
 
These years provided a strong foundation in mindset, communication and personal development.

Trauma recovery and child protection

Carrie’s work later expanded into supporting survivors of trauma, including childhood trauma, PTSD and abuse in 1998.This led to involvement at a governmental level in Canada, as a foremost expert and Federal Government Witness – where Kohan contributed and helped to write & amend 14 laws for the safeguarding and protection of children internationally.
Her advocacy work has been recognized with awards and honours from organizations including:

  • International Rotary Integrity Award

  • The Esquao Justice Award – Institute for the Advancement of Aboriginal Women (The largest award for/by Indigenous Women in Canada)
She has also appeared in all forms of national media in Canada including print, radio and television (CBC Townhall Meetings, Canada AM, National & Regional News with CBC, CTV and Global News, Maclean’s Magazine, CNN, NBC, ABC News and was a regular expert panellist on CTV’s The Verdict)
 
 

Working with thousands worldwide

Across her career Carrie has supported more than 45,000 clients & participants worldwide through therapy, coaching, workshops, retreats and group programs. She has owned and operated retreat centres in Portugal and Edmonton, Alberta, where she created and delivered her signature program, Freedom Masters Intensive, alongside many of her other workshops and retreats. And had a highly successful Youtube Channel / Podcast with over 1 Million Views & 350,000 hours of watched time from 2017 – 2022. (YT took it down in 2022)

Carrie’s work is shaped by decades of experience, her Métis Indigenous heritage and a deep belief that people have the capacity to heal and grow when given the right support. She provides a warm, grounded and non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to explore and move forward.
 
Her approach is integrative, combining therapy, psychotherapy, coaching, mindfulness, guided visualization and NLP-based tools.
 

Author

Carrie is the award-winning author of The Five Lessons of Life, a personal development book based on her 2 NDEs, and insights. The book won 3rd in the World – a Bronze Medal in the 2021 from Readers’ Favourite International Book Awards.
 
The Five Lessons of Life has been translated into Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese, and is available internationally in 43 countries, online and through major retailers including Barnes & Noble, Waterstones, Walmart and Indigo/Chapters.
